What happened to you doesn't have to define what happens next.
Private, discreet, trauma-focused counseling featuring Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), learned directly from its founder. In person in Hartford and by telehealth across Connecticut. I also help adults with the anxiety, depression and addiction that trauma so often leaves behind.

Seeking therapy is a courageous step. Maybe something that happened, recently or long ago, still shows up in your sleep, your body, or your relationships. Maybe anxiety or depression keeps pulling you back, or you're drinking or using to quiet it all. Often these struggles share a root: trauma.
I'm Jennifer Doherty, a licensed counselor who has helped adults heal since 2009, and trauma is at the center of my work.

All servicesWhy ART sets my practice apart
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a brief, eye-movement-based therapy that changes how distressing memories feel, without your having to retell every detail. I learned ART directly from its founder, Laney Rosenzweig, so I bring it to you the way it was designed to work. For many people, ART brings relief in just a few sessions.
Learn more about ARTHealing the whole person
Trauma, anxiety and addiction don't live only in your thoughts. They live in your body too: in a tight chest, shallow breathing, a racing heart, or a body that never quite relaxes. Alongside ART and other proven therapies, I bring in body movement, breathwork, grounding, mindfulness and yoga-informed practices to help your nervous system feel safe again. These practices are always offered and never required, and we go at your pace.
Private, discreet care
Many of the people I work with, including physicians, nurses, attorneys, first responders, and people in Hartford's insurance and finance fields, need to know their care stays private. Because I'm private pay, there's no insurance claim and no diagnosis on file with an insurer or an employer's health plan, unless you choose to submit a superbill yourself. What you share stays between us, within a few legal and safety limits I'll explain up front. Sessions are always one-on-one, and telehealth lets you meet from wherever you feel most comfortable.
