The therapies I use, in plain language
There's no one-size-fits-all path to healing. I draw on a range of well-established approaches and blend them to fit you, your goals, and where you are right now. You don't need to pick one. We'll figure out together what fits.
For trauma
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Signature
A brief, eye-movement-based therapy that uses guided imagery to change how upsetting memories feel, often in just a few sessions. I trained directly with ART's founder. More about ART
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
A structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess distressing memories, using side-to-side eye movements or alternating taps. You don't have to describe every detail of what happened. EMDR is recommended for PTSD by the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association.
Trauma-focused care
Whatever method we use, safety, choice and pacing come first. We go only as fast as feels manageable to you.
For addiction and recovery
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
A collaborative, judgment-free way of talking that helps you explore your own reasons for change, including your mixed feelings about it. I won't push or lecture. I'll help you hear what matters to you.
Relapse prevention and family support
Skills-based work to spot your triggers, high-risk situations and early warning signs, and to build a plan for handling them. I can also help families plan how to talk with a loved one about getting help.
For thoughts, emotions and behavior
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
One of the most widely researched therapies. CBT looks at how thoughts, feelings and actions affect one another. We notice unhelpful patterns and practice new ways of responding.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Skills for intense emotions and urges: mindfulness, getting through a crisis without making it worse, managing emotions, and asking for what you need. It's especially helpful for cravings and emotional overwhelm, and it's one of the most widely researched therapies for both. I'm trained in DBT and teach these skills in a practical, step-by-step way.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Instead of fighting painful thoughts and feelings, you learn to make room for them while moving toward what you value. The goal is a full, meaningful life, even when things are hard.
Whole-person, mind-body approaches
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
MBCT combines CBT with mindfulness to help you notice thoughts and feelings without getting swept away. It was developed to help keep depression from coming back.
Body movement and yoga-informed practices
Your body is part of your healing. Drawing on my yoga background, I may bring gentle movement, stretching, posture and breath into our sessions. These help release tension, discharge stress, and help you feel at home in your body again. Nothing is ever forced, and no experience or flexibility is needed.
Breathwork, grounding and meditation
Simple, practical ways to calm your nervous system in the moment, whether it's a craving, a panic attack, or a memory that surfaces. We practice them together so you can use them anywhere.
Holistic care
I look at your whole life, including sleep, movement, relationships, purpose and community, not just your symptoms. Lasting change comes from caring for all of it.
Seeing you as a whole person
Person-centered and strength-based therapy
You're the expert on your life. We build on the strengths and resilience you already have.
Integrative therapy
This is how everything above fits together. I combine approaches based on what you need and adjust as we go.
